Dedicated to the Communities Where We Live and Work

Argo Surety encourages and empowers each employee to choose their own philanthropic causes. We also strongly believe in supporting local causes as a corporate sponsor, employer and member of the community. On a larger scale, Argo Group provides assistance for victims of national and international catastrophes.

Matching Funds Program

Argo Group established the Matching Contribution program to encourage employees to support charitable, educational and cultural organizations. Argo Group and its subsidiaries will match 150 percent of gifts made by eligible employees to eligible organizations-from a minimum of $25.00 per gift to a maximum of $7,500 per employee per calendar year.

Organizations eligible for matching gifts must be non-profit and recognized as tax-exempt by the United States Internal Revenue Service (Section 501) (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Organizations in the following categories qualify under the Argo Group Matching Contributions Program:

Hospitals—Non-profit, voluntary hospitals accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals.

Health Associations—Health associations that have as their principal mission to advance medical research or provide assistance to patients and families affected by specific diseases.

Cultural Groups—Tax-exempt public broadcasting stations, museums, libraries, historical societies, symphony orchestras, dance companies, opera companies, zoos, arboretums and planetariums.

Educational Institutions—Any accredited primary or secondary school, or degree granting college or university (or graduate school thereof), that is located within the United States and is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as an organization to which contributions are deductible for Federal Income Tax purposes.

Others—Tax-exempt organizations providing social services, educational programs or the prevention of cruelty to children or animals. Examples are Boys or Girls Clubs and similar youth programs, junior achievement, programs assisting the elderly or homeless, the Humane Society, etc. Programs sponsored by a religious organization but otherwise meeting the criteria above will not necessarily be excluded as long as funds are earmarked specifically for the eligible program and participation in the program is not restricted based on religious belief or membership.

Community Relations Committees for Community Involvement

We have a group of volunteers who help support and promote involvement in local charitable events. Our committee coordinates requests and makes recommendations to the executive leadership at each office.

Once agreement to sponsor a local event is secured, committee members promote the event to all local employees. This encourages participation and mobilizes volunteers. Frequently, the level of donation is substantial enough for Argo Group to be recognized as a title sponsor.

Argo Group is also a great supporter of the United Way and all its activities. In addition to soliciting individual participation among employees, the various Community Relations Committees work directly with their local United Way program offices to rally employee support for the agencies that the United Way approves.

Argo Group Fund to Secure the Future

At the corporate level, The Argo Group Fund to Secure the Future was established for catastrophic situations that affect the national or international population. Aiding victims of Hurricane Katrina is a prime example of how this fund can enable Argo Group to expand its corporate citizenship well beyond the local level.
